The modern way to accept cashless tips.
Let guests tip from their phone in 15 seconds. Tips split automatically, your crew gets paid directly to their bank, and it costs your business nothing.
Simpler than you'd expect.
Most operators are live in under 10 minutes. After that, it runs itself.
You set it up once
Add your crew, set your splits, and get a QR code. Takes about 10 minutes. Print it, stick it somewhere guests will see it, and you're live.
Guests scan and tip in 15 seconds
They scan the QR code, pick an amount, and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a card. No app to download, no account to create. Most guests are done before they've put their phone away.
Everyone gets paid. Your accountant stays happy.
Tips land directly in each person's bank account — not through yours. Tax forms are handled automatically. You see everything on your dashboard.
Free for you. Smart splits. Automatic payouts.
Free for your business. Always.
Free means free — no monthly fees, no setup costs, nothing from your pocket. At checkout, guests can cover a small fee so the full tip reaches your crew. Most do. If they don't, it comes out of the tip instead, shown clearly.
However you split tips, we've got it.
Role-based, equal, or custom percentages — however your operation runs, tips get divided the right way, every time. Swap crew, change ratios, it updates instantly.
Paid to their bank. Automatically.
Each crew member connects their bank once via Stripe. Their share of every tip is transferred automatically. Stripe issues 1099s directly to your crew. No envelopes, no Venmo requests, no paperwork for you.
Plus everything you'd expect.
QR code distribution
Print and stick a QR code anywhere — boat, door, table. Guests scan and tip from any phone. No hardware, no POS integration.
Real-time dashboard
See tips, sessions, and earnings the moment they happen. Know exactly how your crew is doing without waiting until end of day.
Review prompts
Right after tipping — when guests feel most generous — they see a gentle nudge to leave a Google or TripAdvisor review.
Tax paperwork handled
Tips go directly to each person's bank account. Stripe issues 1099s directly to your crew — not through you.
Multiple experiences
Run a morning tour and an afternoon charter with different crews and different splits. One account, as many experiences as you need.
Crew self-onboarding
Send an invite link — crew members connect their own bank account through Stripe. You never touch their banking details.
The things operators ask first.
What does CrewJar cost?
CrewJar is free for operators and crew members. No monthly fees, no per-seat charges, no setup costs. There's a 4.9% platform fee on each tip, plus standard Stripe processing fees. By default, guests are given the option to cover all fees — and most do. When that happens, your crew gets 100% of the tip and it costs your business nothing.
Will guests actually use this instead of cash?
Yes. Most people don't carry cash anymore — and a lot of tips get lost because of it. CrewJar doesn't replace cash, it catches the tips that would otherwise disappear. You can keep a tip jar alongside your QR code.
Does this create more paperwork for me?
Less, actually. Tips go directly from the guest to each team member's own Stripe account — the money never flows through your business. Stripe handles tax documentation (including 1099s) directly with each person. You don't issue forms, you don't add it to payroll, you don't handle the funds.
How do crew members get paid?
Each person connects their bank account through Stripe — takes about 2 minutes. After that, their share of every tip is automatically transferred to their bank. You send them a setup link once and they handle the rest.
Can I customize how tips are split?
Yes. Split tips equally, assign custom percentages, or set up role-based splits — captain gets more, deckhand gets their share. Set the rules once and every tip follows them automatically.
Can I run multiple experiences?
Yes. Sunset cruises, fishing charters, dive trips — each gets its own team, QR code, and tip settings. All managed from one dashboard.
How is this different from Venmo or PayPal?
Venmo requires guests to know a specific person's handle, can't split tips across a team, and gives you zero visibility. CrewJar is purpose-built for shared tipping — branded pages, automatic splits, real-time dashboards, and direct-to-bank payouts for everyone.
How long does setup take?
About 10 minutes for you. Add your business name, your crew, pick tip amounts, and you have a live tip page with a QR code. Team members connect their bank accounts on their own time — about 2 minutes each.
Do you have a referral program?
Yes. Refer a fellow operator and earn $100 once they collect their first $500 in tips, plus another $100 bonus when they reach $5,000. Full details at crewjar.com/refer.
Your crew earned it.
Make sure they get it.
We're a sailing crew from Michigan who got tired of watching tips disappear. So we built the fix — and now we're obsessed with making it work for everyone.
