What CrewJar does

CrewJar provides a service for accepting cashless tips on behalf of crew-based service businesses. Operators register a business, add crew members, and share a QR code with guests. Guests scan the QR code and tip. Payouts go directly to crew members through Stripe Connect.

Your responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information about your business, crew, and identity.
  • Comply with applicable laws — including tax, employment, and tipping regulations in your jurisdiction.
  • Treat your crew fairly with respect to the tips collected.
  • Don't use CrewJar for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes.

Our role

  • We facilitate payments through Stripe. We do not take ownership of tips collected on your behalf.
  • We may refuse or suspend service if we reasonably suspect abuse, fraud, or violations of these terms or applicable law.
  • We're not a party to the relationship between operators, crew, and guests. We provide the platform; the underlying business arrangements are yours.

Fees

  • Platform fee: 4.9% of each tip.
  • Stripe processing fees pass through (see Stripe's published rates).

Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of bugs. We don't provide tax, legal, or financial advice — for those, consult a professional. We're not liable for your tax obligations, employment classifications, or any disputes between operators and crew or operators and guests beyond what's covered by our refund policy.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the platform fees you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits; in those cases the limits apply to the maximum extent the law permits.

Termination

You can stop using CrewJar at any time. We can suspend or close accounts for abuse, fraud, or violations of these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. Significant changes will be communicated via email before they take effect. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
